21.04.2023, Birrfeld (CH)

On 21st of April, Wings Level has organised its first Upset Prevention and Recovery Seminar (UPRS) in Birrfeld (CH) exclusively dedicated to airline pilots. The purpose of the seminar was to enable participants to improve and refresh their knowledge and understanding of undesired aircraft states and experience the physical effects of a real developed upset.
The event was organised in two parts: the first part covered the theory underlying the high-level upsets and Loss of Control in Flight (LOC-I), the second part included two flight sessions of 30 minutes each per participant on the FA150K.
During the flights, pilots have been exposed to different upset situations such as: nose-high upset, nose-low upset and fully developed spins.
Three experienced A320 airline pilots have successfully participated to this seminar and found it really helpful, informative and enjoyable, with many of them expressing their intention to participate again.
The seminar was conducted by AUPRT instructor, Andrea Salomoni.
During UPRS trainings, professional pilots have the opportunity to practice their manual flying skills in order to maintain the ability to operate an aircraft “the old-fashioned way” despite prolonged use of automation and, most importantly, to be able to prevent and recover from a LOC-I situation.
Wings Level welcomes professional pilots who want to improve or maintain their handling skills and knowledge to participate to the upcoming UPRS. Check out our next seminars.
